The sweet, smooth soprano saxophone sound of Kenny G has enchanted audiences since he stepped into the spotlight with his breakthrough 1986 album, Duotones. His sixth studio album, Breathless (1992), became the bestselling instrumental album ever. Miracles (1994), his first holiday album, sold over 13 million copies, making it the most successful Christmas album to date. He has become one of the best-selling artists of all time and the best-selling instrumentalist in history.

Kenny G, born Kenneth Bruce Gorelick on June 5, 1956, has collaborated with a long list of high-profile artists including Aretha Franklin, The Weeknd, Andrea Bocelli, and Kanye West. In November 2025, he made a special cameo appearance in A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, playing a soprano saxophone solo alongside Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas on the single he co-wrote, “Coming Home This Christmas.” He teamed up with Charlie Puth on Puth’s song “Cry” and followed that up by accompanying Puth with his soprano saxophone at the Super Bowl LX for a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

In his 2025 memoir Life in the Key of G, co-written with Philip Lerman, the musician shared that he was inspired to play the saxophone by watching The Ed Sullivan Show.

“I was 10 years old when I picked up the saxophone and I still love playing it,” he said.

In his early career, he played in funk bands and backed up artists including Barry White and Liberace.

He’s been married and divorced twice and prefers to keep his current relationship private, though digital network creator Katina Ann has shared posts and photos of them together.
