Hair We Share Gala unites Long Island in a powerful night of community, compassion and hope

By Long Island Press October 5, 2026 2 min read

Hair We Share, a Long Island–based national nonprofit providing free custom human‑hair wigs to children and adults experiencing medical hair loss, hosted its Annual Fundraising Gala at Crest Hollow Country Club. The event brought together local businesses, donors, volunteers, and supporters for an inspiring evening filled with heartfelt stories, celebration, and community impact.

Guests enjoyed raffles, vendors, and a luxury swag bag valued at over $100, featuring premium products from Wet Brush, Goody, Davines, Verb, Moroccanoil, and Terra Nova Hair.

Master of Ceremonies Summer John and Guest Host Jodi Goldberg of Fox 5 NY guided the evening, highlighting Hair We Share’s extraordinary growth from a small basement office in 2014 to a global operation now receiving 10,000 hair donations each month and gifting over 100 wigs monthly through six regional wig banks.

Co‑Founder Suzanne Chimera shared, “Our community continues to show up in ways that truly move us. Every contribution tonight helps transform donated ponytails into life‑changing wigs for people who need them most.”

One of the most emotional moments came from Rosemarie Lombardo, a Hair We Share wig recipient, who shared her personal journey of medical hair loss and the profound impact her wig had on restoring her confidence and identity. Her heartfelt story brought the room to a standstill and reminded guests exactly why the organization’s mission matters.

Jo Marie, Hair We Share’s Lead Wig Stylist, also shared her experience working closely with wig recipients. She spoke about the deep connections formed behind the chair, the courage she witnesses every day, and how each wig represents far more than hair — it represents hope, dignity, and the strength to keep going. Her words highlighted the compassion, artistry, and emotional dedication behind every wig she created.
