High season in the Hamptons is summer, and while that extends to the North Fork, the region’s real high season is autumn, especially pumpkin season.

Whether you’re a local, a seasonal resident, or a weekend day tripper, here are a few places you’ll want visit to find your perfect pumpkin on the North Fork.

There are plenty of places to either stroll through a pumpkin patch with a wheelbarrow and get them that way, or buy pre-picked pumpkins from the farmstands.

Schmitt’s Farm Stand on Sound in Riverhead offers a “You Pick Pumpkin Patch” each fall, along with a corn maze and pick-your-own apple orchard. The farm stand also features homemade jams, dressings, pickles and baked goods, as well as seasonal produce and other treats. Schmitt’s operates a second location, Schmitt’s Farmstand on Main in Laurel, where visitors can pick their own pumpkins in the fall. Both locations offer seasonal farmstand goods, while the Laurel location is home to the farm’s largest greenhouse.

Holzman’s Family Farm offers a family- and pet-friendly pumpkin-picking experience, with pumpkins growing right on the vine. The farm also features corn and hay mazes, hay and barrel rides, cornhole, pumpkin decorating and a variety of kids’ arts and crafts activities, including decorating mugs and trick-or-treat bags.
